San Pedro Arts & Cultural District Stakeholder Meeting
January 23, 2018 @ 6:00 pm
Next Steps: Leveraging our California Cultural District Designation
In June 2017, along with our partners; the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, the CD 15 Office of Joe Buscaino, the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce, the Grand Vision Foundation and Angels Gate Cultural Center, we were designated as a California Cultural District by the California Arts Council. Along with 13 other districts, we will serve as California’s premier state-designated Cultural Districts, highlighting thriving cultural diversity and unique artistic identities within local communities across California.
A Cultural District, as outlined by the program, is a well-defined geographic area with a high concentration of cultural resources and activities. Each of the 14 districts will receive the designation for a period of five years, per state legislation.
Please join us at the National Watercolor Society, 915 South Pacific Avenue in San Pedro for our next CCD Stakeholder meeting. We will be picking up the conversation we started in September and organizing into areas of interest to plan our initiatives in 2018. Areas of interest to be discussed will include Connecting Assets, Branding/Outreach and focusing on the future of our ArtWalks. Stakeholders are encouraged to attend and help us continue the work of the San Pedro Arts&Culture District.
