Angels Gate Cultural Center is now offering monthly Family Art Workshops! All are welcome. Art activities for kids and adults, ages 1 to 101!

Angels Gate Cultural Center ofrece Talleres de Arte mensuales para familias! Todos son bienvenidos. Actividades para niños y adultos, desde un 1 año de edad hasta los 100!

ALTAR : Symbols are all around us. If we look and listen closely, ordinary objects offer glimpses of the past, present and future. This month, we will take a look at the ideas behind Zen Buddhist altars and reflect on our personal desires and transformations to create altars at home. Your altar can be dedicated to anything you wish.

Supplies needed:

Base for your altar, such as a cardboard box, shelf, or sturdy stack of books

Piece of cloth that is meaningful to you – this can be clothing or a handkerchief, and should be big enough to cover your base

Candle, votive, or light source that fits on your altar

Small vessel for water, flowers, leaves, or another object from nature

Piece of paper

Pen/Pencil

Glue & Scissors (optional)

Materials for decorating, such as pipe cleaners, pompoms, colorful paper, fabric, etc.

Personal objects that delight your 5 senses, such as incense, candy or fruit, a smooth stone, etc. (you can always grab more items during the workshop!)
