Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble-Alvas Showroom
July 14, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$20.00Alvas Showroom is extremely pleased and excited to be hosting Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble, one of the great Creole artists to come out of southwest Louisiana since the famed Clifton Chenier mainstreamed Zydeco in the 1980’s. He is a native of Grand Couteau, Louisiana, a town nestled in the prairies and bayous rich with Creole music and culture. Taylor has released five CD’s, making him one of the most prolific artists from the region. He has toured with the world-renowned Clifton Chenier, Geno Delafose, CC Adcock, Steve Riley, and many other names in the genre. Taylor brings the steaminess of the bayous and the grittiness of New Orleans together in a uniquely infectious, bluesy style of hard-driving, upbeat Nouveau Zydeco, you’ll remember for a lifetime. Come join the crowd at Alvas, as Curley brings his BIG, high-energy rollicking sound that is guaranteed to bring down the house. Dancer or not, you’re going to love this show.
“I make Feel Good Zydeco Soul Music for the masses of people,” Taylor says. When asked what makes him keep up with his grueling 200 gigs a year tour schedule, he smiles. “I continue playing and touring because I enjoy what I do-and that’s spreading love and happiness through music. I want to keep growing the brand, and I’m proud to be a Country Boy from Louisiana!”
Since this is dance music, we’re opening up the dance floor for this event! As a special treat for Alvas patrons, Zydeco dance instructor, Karen Redding, will be providing a short dance lesson at 3:30 PM so everyone can get in on the fun! She has taught dance at the Los Angeles Music Center, the Ford, and the Irvine Barclay Theater, as well as all the Southern California Zydeco festivals for the past 20 years. Redding is one of the finest Zydeco dance instructors outside Louisiana and she is offering a one time only special price of only $5 per person for the lesson to Alvas’ patrons, payable in cash at the door.
Feel free to bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages with you. In keeping with true Louisiana style, share the par-taay! Bring your friends and family! Laissez les bon temps rouler!
