An Afternoon with Val Zavala-Grand Annex

$20.00Val Zavala, who recently retired after 30 years at KCET , the largest independent public broadcasting station in the United States, served the station in various capacities, most recently as Vice-President of News and Public Affairs. She also anchored the award-winning news magazine So Cal Connected and Life and Times. Since joining KCET in 1987 she won fifteen Los Angeles Emmy awards. Ms. Zavala has covered major issues in Southern California politics, education, government, demographics, health care, environment, economy, arts, and culture. She has been honored for her community service by numerous organization including the California Chicano News Media Association, Hispanic Americans for Fairness in Media, and as Woman of the Year to benefit the California Science Center. She is on the board of Southern California’s Alzheimer’s Association and has also served as a trustee of Mount St. Mary’s College. She received her Master’s Degree in journalism from American University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Latin American Studies from Yale University
