February 23, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Featuring
Helena’s founder, Henry Elkus
and
Dr. Branwen Williams, Claremont College
Helena brings world-wide thought leaders together to focus on addressing issues of global importance and creating innovations that yield significant positive impact. They believe that small groups of brilliant and capable leaders can solve intractable problems. Helena’s “Factory in the Sky” Project supported the development and construction of the world’s first commercial carbon-capture factory, and its “Shield Project” catalyzed state and federal action to help protect the North American Electrical grid from threats due to solar storms and cyber-attack.
Dr. Williams’ work generates records of our past ocean and climate variability, and uses these records to understand mechanisms driving environmental changes. She is an Associate Professor of Environmental Sciences in the W.M. Keck Science Department, a science department shared at Claremont Colleges: Claremont McKenna College, Pitzer College, and Scripps College.
Attendance is free and open to the public
